Where is the chuck key to the lathe? There is one that is too small on top of the lather but someone seemed to have moved the proper one. Any ideas.
Did you look at both lathes? The spring-loaded chuck keys from the “old” Colchester also fit the “new” Colchester. Since we plan to keep those keys when we dispose of the old lathe on Wednesday, the chuck keys might be at the new lathe.
Yes I checked, unfortunately it’s not there. Also that’s a bummer. I’m in a wheelchair and can’t use the new lathe because it’s too high…
@Photomancer - any ideas?
check to see if it has migrated its way to the cabinet.
The newer lathe isn’t quite in service yet to everyone, but it is on raised casters and should be back to about the same height of the C2000 once we move it into position next week. cheers!
Awesome news, and I found the key! Thanks guys
Great news!
For future reference, where was it?
(y’know, in case it was somewhere “it’s supposed to be” )
Machine Shop has a cart that is slated to be right next to the new lathe when it is moved into place. All of the accessories for the lathe will live on the cart. Removing it from the cart and not putting it back will likely have consequences. We have a camara setup and aren’t afraid to use it. cheers!
I noticed the new chuck key on the ‘new’ lathe is spring loaded so it can’t stay in the chuck accidentally. Bravo!
All future keys will be of this type. When we sold the Bantam I think I gave the other keys away with it.
