A friend called to ask what was happening at MicroCenter since there was a line around the building. Any ideas?
Probably people in line for graphics cards. A member I talked to last week said he camped out at Microcenter to get his for 24 hrs.
Yup, it’s for graphics cards. MicroCenter also recently changed their rules on camping out, so no one is allowed to line up before 6am, have a tent, etc.
It sounds like they had an issue with people practically living out front, they may have even been warned by the city.
Professional card like a Quadro RTX A6000 is backordered for 6 months and that’s with it as part of a complete system from a major manufacturer. Based on unavailability of the highest markup products like that I would expect the shortage with lower markup products to last at least until the end of the year and then some.
Sounds like I need to look at my graphics card on my Desktop.
I procured my 3070 recently by purchasing a powerspec desktop from microcenter, shucking out the new card and putting in my old card, then selling the system for the cost difference of a non-marked up 3070
It’s the only way I can get current gen cards recently.
They have a limit of one per customer on the graphics cards now.
