What tool do we have that is best for engraving/etching/marking rock?

I’d like to make someone a pet memorial and etch a headshot of their pet and the pets name into a flattish rock for their garden but I’m not sure what the best tool we have for that these days is.

People laser etch onto slate. Technically it ablates the rock. I’ll PM you.

Thanks! I hadn’t recalled seeing anyone do it do I wasn’t 100% sure. I’ll aquire some test pieces and work on my art file.

The lasers can be used as long as the rock is not super reflective, and is not composed of materials that will be toxic or dangerous when having the laser hit them.
