There are some wanting to do a portal style Christmas tree. With one half somewhere and the other half somewhere else.
Half in the Lobby and Half in the Common Room, perhaps?

Slightly more serious, metal shop weld two halves of a “tree” (maybe pole with a base then random bent pieces of round stock), laser cuts out acrylic 0’s in blue and orange, digital media gets pictures of the ends of each portal to place inside the acrylic. Obviously @talkers will want to put leds everywhere. Bottom piece in the lobby, top piece coming from the wall of purple facing the common room, adorn with ornaments made by different committees and… Portal tree. I lied about the serious part, this is all crap off the top of my head

We had a tree donated to us last year I believe i is somewhere in off site storage
That likely means that it is not easy to reach at this time

I think I may make an extra large black rifle from foam or something and stand it up and put lights and chrismas balls …and of course strings of brass garland
