Anyone can identify what kind of a spider is this?

Looks like a tarantula. They live in Texas and surrounding states. I’ve seen one wild in Dallas before. I took a photo cause I was so surprised to see it.

Despite their name having brown in it they’re not always brown.

Aren’t tarantulas normally “hairy”? I can’t tell from @Alper 's photo whether that one is. Here’s one seen in my back yard …

Tarantulas have hairy legs and bodies not sure this is a tarantula.

Maybe a Trapdoor Spider? I remember them in Colorado. I don’t think I’ve ever seen one here.

Although, most of them are hairy, too. This is more likely, because that’s rather small for a tarantula. I just realized the size of those grass blades. S/he isn’t all that big.

I agree it’s probably not a tarantula. Trapdoor spiders are big though. If that’s what it is then it’s not fully grown. :smile:

They’re fairly big compared to the average garden/house spider. Many of them are small in comparison to a tarantula, though.
