What is wrong in this pic?

If they decide they can’t fix the pan i’d Love to try to TIG bronze then re-tap the hole or TIG bronze a nut with the same thread as the stock drain plug…I’ve never tried TIG bronzing, but want to try so I can save cast parts in the future.

this is the route I am leaning towards - parting it out. The kid had good taste in the brand of wheels (not my style but very good wheels).

I told the Dad that installed but unused “performance” parts have little resale value but would probably be easier to sell than trying to find a Yute that has cash and can drive a stick and has a mechanical aptitude (those three together are close to impossible to find these days).

I’m not a Japanese car fan - never have been, but it is a nice coupe’ (not impressed by the headlight design or the rear steering rack design), but as a 6 speed manual larger 2 door it could be a nice stockish daily driver. It reminds me of the great Mercedes SEC models of the 1980s (the Benz was a better looking car even 30 years ago)

Granted, you should only need 1 of the bolts, but I guess they figure your local kwik-e-lube tech can use this to make money by selling “new oil pans” and then just tap it out… I kid. I kid. But seriously, this IS an interesting way to spend a lot less to fix it “not right but maybe it’ll work indefinitely”…

most of those options are not going to work for me - I am not a hack and not a “no one will know” kind of guy.
I’ve never been one to stoop to piss poor car dealership low quality / high quantity type of car work - and I’m not going to start.
Tig welding the hole and re-threading or installing an insert in order to use the OEM (stock) oil drain plug would be acceptable. If not a new sump is the only option.

Dorman - not surprised that they offer those worthless options…

Yep. I’ve got the Si bronze fillers in-hand…so i’d Try those. The Al bronze don’t look as aesthetically pleasing…they just kind of Pool on…

The earliest I can be at the space with the oil sump is Monday evening.

If you can get some idea of what actual parts were used in the “upgrades” I’ll see if anyone I know is interested in the parts at least. I’ve got a few friends with this motor, be it in the same car or otherwise.

As soon as possible - the car is almost back together & we have a car waiting to go on the lift for a timing chains and related parts, clutch conversion and more.

Ok. I’ve added the metal, machined the fill flat, and drilled a hole…you will need to get a drill and tap…I think it gets a 14mm 1.5 pitch…I think. You’ve got about 12mm of material thickness you can tap so I think it’ll be more than sturdy.
