What is the grace period for leaving DMS?

So, what is the grace period for letting your membership lapse before you lose your current membership level, voting rights, dms certifications, ect.?

14 days

That’s for the monthly rate but doesn’t seem to address certifications, which in my mind would be a much bigger concern. You aren’t going to forget how to use woodshop in 14 days. Hell I don’t use woodshop that often - machine shop even less.

I get that revoking certifications has some value in discouraging on-again-off-again abuse, but a few years ago I let my membership lapse because I was working out of town.

It would seriously suck to have to re-take everything, especially since the classes are so hard to get into.

To clarify, that’s for failed payments not for cancellation.

You can’t get a legacy rate back with special approval though we allow a grace period to fix things like expires card info.

Certifications never lapse as long as you rejoin under the same account, and the committee hasn’t changed the training policy and required retraining (for example the Bridgeport hasn’t needed new training in years at least, but the Plasma table needed new training when we switched to the Dynatorch).

Voting rights are lost with cancellations, and the timer to be a member in good standing starts when you rejoin

Good explanation. Seems reasonable. My certifications didn’t expire, but it would have sucked if they had.
