What is happening at the DMS?

I have not been to the Makerspace in a few months as life has gotten in the way but today I came to the DMS to find this:

And apparently someone has set up a tent house thing in the back:

What is happening to the DMS? Why did we, including myself, let it get this bad.

Hopefully DMS isn’t paying for the U-haul van.

I think the uhaul and tent are related. The rest of it is just the usual “someone else will clean it” mentality that is prevalent these days

No, that’s stans desk that he basically has a permanent setup on. On the tables meant for people to be able to come in and set up a laptop and work. Not a bunch of clunky desktops no one knows if they can use

Speaking only for myself, I no longer ask questions when I see something out of sorts. The personal risk isn’t worth it.

Like being told you don’t know what’s going on because you aren’t “involved enough”

Work occurring is not an excuse to leave an area look like an episode of hoarders, especially when leaving it that way. Clean up. Your mother doesn’t work here.

It is turning into Dallas MakerSty. At least there is a gallon of handsoap.

EDIT: Let’s hope the City of Carrollton doesn’t come by. As they will hang us for ignoring their warning(s).

Not in the ladies bathroom! Whomever keeps putting water into what’s there- that’s completely yucky.

Good, cleaning supplies will be needed after cleaning out the hoard.

Been there, done that… and gave away two trailer loads of electronics, computer, and AV gear here at the space when finished.

my apologies just this part is Stans desk. The rest is infrastructure leaving out a bunch of stuff on public work tables because they don’t have to respect other people needing workspaces as well

I have been told to stop asking questions because I’m not on-site enough or involved in certain projects/committees. However, it’s one thing to say “stop asking questions, we don’t want to hear from you”; it’s another to say “stop asking questions or we’re going to punish your committee or you.” Suddenly, I no longer care to ask about questionable activities.

Just speaking for myself. I want @frank_lima to know why.

So, you’re of the “do as I say, not as I do” clan?

To sort-of quote you: “The Common Area desks are not your storage space.”

They are however the storage space of ongoing projects for upkeep of the space. You see I have not a single iota of personal project there. Only ongoing space projects.

So try again at villyifiying me. You don’t like projects taking a while, start helping with them. This is my problem. People want to bitch, but not help.

In theory shouldn’t logistics be in charge of keeping those areas usable? Maybe the current approach to running logistics is ineffective, what guidelines can we point members to right now that should prevent random junk accumulating in what should be common work areas?

I was a vice-chair who spent many months doing off-siting for projects overstaying their personal storage limits. My truck has the scars as proof.

Try your garbage speak about people not helping somewhere else.

Oh, and clean up after yourself. Your mother does not work here.
