A member was offering to let DMS use his vacuum freeze-dryer, if we could find a place to put it. Bio was considered the most likely place, but I never saw the Bio Committee take up the subject. This looked like a great offer, so I’d like to know what its status is.
I responded to it more than once that I had no problem with it being there.
I remember that we were having some issues about space, power, and simply transporting it to the makerspace.
That was me. If I remember it right, there was a lot of chatter but not a clear indication that I could bring it to the space. I guess I really didn’t know what constituted a definitive answer and more importantly, who could give one. Anyhow, I will make arrangements to bring it and I’ll find a place by bio to stick it.
Matt
You just need Andrew’s approval above to bring it in.
For the Record
Does it run on 220?
The stove I’m bringing has got a plug for that.
I’m either going to have to do some favors for Foundry committee to share their outlets or we’re going to have to budget for some extra electrical work to get done.
Yes, it is 208/240. I forget which plug end is on it. I think it’s the correct one for the kiln outlet but will have to check.
It is on wheels so if we need to borrow space while it’s in use, that is an option. It is not my intention to start a discussion or debate on that - I am merely saying that the thing can be wheeled around with some effort (it weighs 1100 pounds but can be moved by one person on a smooth surface).
Oh on that note (moving it)… the only practical way I can think of is going to be to drive a trailer up into the workshop - or use a car to pull it up into the workshop using a tow chain. Any preferences in that regard or should I just figure it out and do it?
Any way you can figure out how to do it is fair game to me. We may need to leave it in the common zone, clearly marked of course, until we re-order bio.
I’m going to be going out of town tomorrow for four days so this week is pretty much a bust on the organizing stuff.
But I’ll be working on it next week I’m sure. If you’d like to wait until then too I think that’s super reasonable!
But I leave the specifics to your discretion.
