What dead appliances are useful to others?

The post about the mostly dead MW, prompted me to ask this question.

My hubby is an even worse packrat than me. He wants to keep all dead appliances. He never gets around to using them or even taking them apart. I am thinking if I can convince him that others can make use of them, I can get rid of some easier.

The 2 things that we seem to end up with the most is dead fans and dead heaters. Any useful parts? I don’t want to bring ‘trash’ out to donate. Some of the heaters will have damaged cords. (he always want to replace them, but I don’t really trust his replacement on a heater, or mine!

Maybe I can help others while I clean up.

BTW, the lidless cookie tin is being turned into jewelry.

PS I am the daughter of 2 packrats, I am a packrat and so is my hubby. My house.garage and storage are FULL of stuff.

I can relate.

  • Old ceiling fans that I neatly disassembled and then never donated to charity
  • Broken dishwasher that might be reparable
  • Garbage disposal my folks hustled off on me, condition unknown
  • Electric weedeater that stripped its plastic drive gear, but the motor still works
  • Paper shredder that sounds like it’s nearing end of life

When I salvage broken equipment, I’m not doing it to repair it. I’m doing it for spare parts, so I can create my army of robots and take over the world.

I have seen some real neat art robots made from upcycled items

I like gears, so I would be willing take such things , or devices containing them, off your hands :stuck_out_tongue:
