I learned a lot about electronics by tearing items apart. So, even if a person does not have an item to repair, they can dismantle something instead. Take apart a CD player and discover what is inside. Other people around can assist in identifying all the major parts.

Registered, I have an old laptop that shusts sown after about 15 min of being on,
After it cools down, boot it up and check the Windows System Event Logs under Event Viewer in the Administrative Tools folder. It may have some clues in it as to why the system is shutting down. Perhaps a cooling fan has failed and it’s shutting down thanks to excessive heat.
