I just got referred to the site and did not know that there was a makerspace here in Carrollton. I look forward to checking some classes out in wood working. Back to the subject. I used to have a business making and selling chainmaile at renaissance faires but my regular job has kept me on the road a lot the last several years and I had to shut things down. I’m home a bit more often these days and am cleaning out my home shop to setup to do some wood working. I did not realize I had this much wire left and am looking to get it all sold. The following is the list of what I’m looking to sell.
There are 20 2 pound spools of .035 308 stainless.
1 18.72 pound spool of .062 308 stainless
1 26.26 pound spool of .062 308 stainless
1 11.82 pound spool of .035 308 stainless
1 17.92 pound spool of .062 308 stainless
1 35 pound spool of .062 309 stainless
1 22.16 pound spool of .045 aluminum bronze
1 26.08 pound spool of .045 308 stainless
1 35.14 pound broken spool of .045 308 stainless
1 34.30 pound spool of.045 316 stainless
And 1 7.74 pound spool of .030 cp titanium. I think it’s grade 4 the label is a bit faded.
All of this is on spools. I’d prefer to sell as a lot but am willing to sell individual spools as well.
I’m in Carrollton and am home for now until my company sends me out to write hail claims.
I can be reached at my email address: [email protected]
The stainless I’m looking for $3.00 a pound
The aluminized bronze the same and $5.00 a pound on the cp titanium.
I look forward to meeting some of you when I come up for a class.
This is partially on topic…
Can you use MIG wire like this as the filler wire when doing TIG welding? I’ve always used the straight rods, but this could be an interesting way of doing things.
Only fear I guess is the thinness of the wire vs an actual TIG filler rod
Sure. That’s what I’ve always done with the pieces that are left in the gun when you run out or change wires or whatever. You just cut it into pieces and straighten it a little bit and you’re good to go.
TIG rod comes in all different thicknesses just like spooled wire for MIG guns. Actually, the .062 wire that @questor886 has for sale won’t even feed in our 252, you can’t get drive spools that big, nor is our gun big enough.
ETA - For little bitty MIG wire that you want to use as filler for TIG welding thick metal, I have seen guys take excess .030, bend it in half, and then twist it up with a screw gun into a nice twisted pair. I have never personally done this, but have seen it and it looks like it worked just fine.
Any of us need this stainless wire. Looks like this guy was using the .062 to make chain mail. .035 is the only thing we could run in a mig gin.
I still have the 20 2 pound spools of the .035 308L stainless wire available. $7.50 each or $125.00 for all at once. Still trying to make room in my shop.
