I am looking to learn the welding basics for small projects, but before i can practice and get better, i need to be taught the basics and learn how to use the equipment safely. Anyone else looking to learn?

Yes, you’ll need to take the “DMS Welding processes and Safety” class. @LeeCJones usually schedules these, but I’ll see if I can round up a volunteer to get one scheduled soon. @dallasmagna is Metal Shop’s chair, and can also help to answer this question.
Thanks for the knowledge. I tried fonding a class on the calendar but didnt see any. I might go bug those people in a few days if i don’t catch word of anything.
No problem. We’re trying to round up instructors, and it really doesn’t take anything special to convey safety knowledge. So, once you’ve taken the class and gotten yourself oriented, please consider volunteering to teach the class once in a while! We’ll gladly help you out by having a more experienced instructor in the room for your first time (or two, if you want).
(edit: and, as a bonus, you learn things by teaching it that you would have glossed over as a student. It’s some sort of weird psychology thing…)
