unless they thought you had one of these in the garage…
VW Bus sells for a groovy 235,000
Yeah I knew of that one, got the email back when it went up for sale. I’m into Type 1’s not the Type 2.
Though most auto thieves are not smart enough to understand the value of a good Type 1 or 2 in mint condition. Their looking for the quick sale and cars that have a high demand.
But yeah not even that good of a quality car its got to be the most rusted up pos one could find. Its kind of like the thought in this video:
nah, but I do find the Type 34 uniquely pug like cute but of course if I’d ever find a Type 7… well there’s no way anyone is stopping me putting a fat arse turbo and nos setup in that thing then painting a giant troll face and tank girl logos on the bugger.
Oh and for the lolz I may even put in ejector seats
Sacrilege!
I’ll confess a weakness for all air pumper vee dubs. Only recently came to appreciate the Type 34 at all…
Well if your ever looking for anything classic veedub then check out thesamba.com otherwise I know a few guys back in colorado that have shops just for anything VW and all at pretty damn fair prices too.
If you saw that beetle when they first brought it into the shop, it had (to camera appearance) a really nice white paint job on it, and no obvious rust. The current appearance is all faux finish. Can’t land that kind of action if you troll with too nice a bait.
Yeah. Fake “patina” pisses me off, as interesting as the techniques are. That Johnny what’sface can go suck an egg along with all his derelicts. Such a great idea. Wicked poor execution by a complete, and total, tool.
I’ll say 3 things about that AZN/Farmtruck Dung Beetle vid:
- That beetle is purpose built, and, whether the perpetrator of that look should be dragged behind it until dead aside, purpose built air-cooleds have been putting the hurt on unsuspecting “big blockers and cock knockers” (I don’t know exactly what that means, but has always implied “V8 muscle car fans and exotic car fans”) for DECADES.
- That GT-R was punked by the TV show. I can’t see any way that beetle outran the GT-R other than it was scripted, or total driver failure. GT-Rs launch like freight trains, with all wheel drive, drag launch mode, etc. Even a purpose built beetle has trouble hooking up like that, with no burnout, no slicks, no wheelie bars, etc. (maybe that stuff was edited out).
- That Farm Truck (that made “Farm truck guy” famous) is incredible; goes to show what a stuffing a bit of NOS up the nostrils of a big block chevy can do. If you can keep it together…
Anyone remember back when Dave Perkins was the world record holder for the All Steel Body VW Beetle? Was trying to remember what his times were…
Here’s some more recent footage. How it’s changed from those days…
