Does anybody know if there is there a free/open source solution for converting video formats?
For example, I have .MTS video from my JVC Everio that I want to convert to MP4 in order to be imported to GoPro studio 2.0 for editing with my other GoPro videos.
There are lots of them. I don’t need much, so I use Windows Live Movie Maker to import my .mts files and convert them to .wmv files.
I don’t use it (my brother does), but I hear good things about “Handbrake”. I have no actual experience using it etc.
I’ve been using XMedia Recode for a 720p mp4 → (720p webm and 720p ogv; 480p mp4, 480p webm, 480p ogv) workflow (which is two video qualities in available HTML5 standard video formats). It also has specific device profiles (iOS, Android, PSP, Vita, etc).

Ive used it for many years to play any video format and convert lots, im not sure about all the supported codecs but its worth a try.

FYI, Lesson learned, Before I posted this message, I downloaded some of the ones from a quick Google search and found out that they are virus’s waiting to happen. So beware and many thanks for providing the trustworthy links for download.
