Vacuum Tubes (free for the taking)

I am in possession of the following tubes from Fred’s warehouse of wonder. If you would like one or more of these tubes, send me a PM and I will arrange to bring them to DMS for you. These are free. No cost and no need to trade. Just wanting to reduce my consumption of space.

If no one wants them for their intended use, and you’re ok with them being used decoratively, then I’ll take them. No hard feelings either way.

That is fine with me. Lets wait a week or so to see if anyone else wants some of them first, but if not your welcome to them…

Works for me, thanks!

Hah, Jorge i was thinking the same thing. Will be good for Steampunk decorations!

I work with a guy who rebuilds old tube based radios, jukebox and guitar amps. I am showing him the list and seeing if any of them are ones he commonly needs.

HAHA great minds think alike. I was going to make sculpture with them too

Interested in a few for their intended purpose. Let me check which would be most useful for a few regens I’ve been looking at building.

I will give preference for those who will use them for their intended purpose, but lets say some night next week, any that aren’t claimed will be made available to the artists to use as raw material.

I have been trying to find these a good home for over a year.

Art doesn’t want them?!?

You know, @artg_dms talked to me last night about the tubes I had, but he hadn’t seen my inventory list. Of course, I’m sure he has his own storage problems!

@wandrson - As mentioned in previously, I have several (5) TVs and I would love to have your whole collection. I’m trying to build up my stock of parts and test equipment needed for restoring old TVs and radios. As you suspect, tubes are one of the parts that just can’t be substituted.

@Webdevel - I’ll gladly give you all of the tubes that I test that are bad or so weak as to be unusable. I also have a few other old tubes that really cool looking and I thing you’d like. They are old transmitter tubes that I got from the local Vintage Radio Preservation Society swap meet - they were giveaways. They have another swap meet on May 20 and it might be worth stopping by to see if there’s any more giveaways. Here’s a pic of one of the old transmitter tubes. PM me so we can make arrangements for tube transfer.

I could use 2x 6SN7 and 2x 5U4, or more if no one else has need of them for repair/restore purposes.
The 5U4 is used in almost every old TV that has an AC transformer (filaments not in series) while the 6SN7 is a common dual triode found in most octal-centric tube designs.

@urbite

They are yours. Lets discuss in PM the best way to get them to you!

@wanderson Thanks - I’ll be a good steward of these old technology marvels.

@zmetzing, @Shawn_Christian If you have specific tubes that you need just let me know. I’m putting together a collection of tubes for my present and planned future tube equipment restoration projects.

That works for me to. As I said, I would prefer they be used for their intended purpose, but that’s so beyond me that they are just steampunk parts to me.

I have a box of various size tubes as well. I do not know if any are working, or good, but I’d be willing to swap back and forth if you’re able to determine which can be used and are worth saving.

I will happily take any that are bad or weak. We can meet at DMS sometime and go through what we have.

@urbite, I finally got word back from my coworker who repairs old tube amps and he sent me the following list of tubes as ones he commonly uses for his repairs.

12AT7/ECC81 1
12AU7A/ECC82 1
12AX7/ECC83 2
5U4GB/5AS4A 6
5Y3GT 1
6X4 1
6SN7GTB 4

And I personally am just looking for any interesting looking tubes working or not for adding to my shelf of cool things above my workbench in my office at work. Been trying to get my hands on a large radio transmitter tube for a while without much luck. Most that are pulled from service are sent back to be refurbished and put back in service. Those that are not sent back to be refurbished usually are in very poor shape following a lightning strike to the antenna.

If the 12A*7’s are still up for grabs, I wouldn’t mind calling dibs on those.

Would like to claim these:

6AF6G qty 2 <-- “Magic Eye” tube, three left to claim!
6AG6/EL33 qty 1
6CH7/EF183 qty 2
6DS4 qty 1
6EH7/EF183 qty 1
6F6GT qty 2
6JB6A qty 1
6K7 qty 2
6L6 qty 1
6T10 qty 2
6U8 qty 3
6U8A qty 1

12BY7A qty 3
12HG7 qty 5
12HL7 qty 6

Still looking through the older ARRL projects for the common RF and AF tubes, so I might add to the list, but this is reasonable for now.

Yeah … I’d better stop.
