UTD's Nanotube Fabric Available for Commercial Development

"UTD’s MacDiarmid NanoTech Institute discovered a way to make sheets of nanotubes that are strong, lightweight and transparent, and have superconducting capabilities, opening up a realm of previously impossible products.

"Lintec holds the exclusive worldwide rights to develop, use, market and sell these carbon nanotube materials, as well as license the patented production process to other manufacturers. UTD will receive royalties from Lintec’s sales.

“The market is any company that wants to stretch the limits of current raw materials.”

I wonder if the composites group would be able to do something with this nanotube product?

Richard,

Very interesting news.

I’ve met Dr. Baughman and the Japanese scientist KZ is a friend of mine that I worked with at Zyvex Instruments for 3 years. I also know his wife Raquel as she is an expert in CNTs. The hand with the blue glove is hers.

As for composites, CNTs have been used in that application for over a decade, notably with Zyvex Performance Materials (I think they were sold by Jim Von Ehr recently) Kentera Nanosolve that they sell by the barrel to everyone from high end sports manufacturers to the military.
