The PolyPrinter 508 is now on OctoPrint like the other PolyPrinters with the address: 192.168.200.90
It works just like the other PolyPrinters, except you need to change the Printer Profile in Kisslicer to “PolyPrinter 508” in order to use the extended bed.
Some rules about using the PolyPrinter 508:
You are still required to be on campus to make sure your print doesn’t screw up or finish and prevent others from using it after you. You can always have someone proxy for you (they can watch it and fix it if it goes bad).
If it’s being used, please add your name to the Queue white board with your name and number and PolyPrinter 508 so the next person knows you want to use it.
Only use the PolyPrinter 508 for larger prints that you can’t do on the PolyPrinter 229’s. This will free it up for others that want to print larger items.
Do not try to fix it unless you are trained for it, it’s a new machine and covered under warranty by PolyPrinter.
Sorry if this is posted somewhere else, this being the same as the other polyprinters just bigger is it available for use after the 3d printer 101 class?
Yes it’s available and works the same as the other PolyPrinters after taking the basic class (I will have to update the online class for this too), just follow what I listed above.
This is kind of on the subject, can anyone explain this part of the wiki?
Preparing for the print.
Can your model be printed? (coming from thingiverse doesn’t mean it will print)STL files are meshes, and the faces of these meshes must be facing outward
Prepare the model for printing
Load the model in sketchup or blender to repair the model
Run your model through the online Netfabb to give your stl file a sanity check.
Shapeways provides a useful Pre-print Checklist in preparation for printing, along with guides for fixing many issues one might see.
Are netfabb and shapeways obsolete because of kisslicer? They hadn’t been mentioned in the polyprinter basics classes, maybe they’re brought up in another class though.
