Help!
My company is under going renovations and I’m noticing a lot of perfectly good keyboards (not junk) monitors and other thing being thrown away. Does anyone have a contact for donating these to non-profits or others? It Just seems so wasteful.
If any end up on the Member Exchange shelf I could use a couple of old PS/2 keyboards for projects.
Sorry, these are actually new wireless ones. I’ll keep my eye out for the others though.
I may have one of these for you. Lemme check.
If the LCD monitors are 22+ inches and have VGA and DVI or HDMI I know they would be useful around DMS and if on the free shelf quite a few would find a new home. Same for the wireless keyboards. If they are bluetooth they are easy to work with but if they use the special receiver they are not very usable without the matching dongle.
One thing that always seems to be impossible to find around DMS are IEC standard computer power cords. It is always a scavenger hunt trying to find one when you need one. We used to have a few bins of them but they have gone walkabout over the last year.
I’ll try to remember to bring some tomorrow night.
There are adapters for plugging USB keyboards (and mice) into PS/2 ports. They worked for me every time I tried, but only with wired keyboards. I have not tried with a wireless one.
With my limited vision I could use a larger monitor
DMS is getting low on keyboards, and especially mice, if there are some in reasonable shape that you want to drop by.
IEC computer cords are needed in electronics lab. They are frequently cut and sacrificed for other projects and run in short supply.
I’ve got four of the power cords so far. I’ll drop them in the lab.
I’ve go three, they ain’t pretty.
Pretty doesn’t matter.
I put the keyboards on the share shelf last night and dropped about 20 assorted power cords in the electronics lab. Some of the power cords are from laptop bricks. I figured they could be used as sacrificial cords.
