Upholstery staple remover

Hi-
I am recovering 8 dining room chairs. I’ve seen people in the space recovering upholstery from time to time.

Anyhow, I’m looking for a specialty tool to remove staples. I spent about an hour today looking for a tool that would work but could it find anything, I tried using a flat screw driver, various poke/punch tool, pliers, clips and none seemed to work. I looked through sewing, creative arts, Woodshop and automotive.

They make special tools for the job found at sewing stores and Amazon, they aren’t expensive.Just curious if DMS has one, or do I need to buy one. I don’t mind donating it if it turns out we don’t have one. I would just be surprised.

Best regards,
Joe

It’s not a commonly used tool. You can pick up the whole set for 16 bucks at harbor freight.
Automotive has a whole section of small pry bars before removing trims. Some of them are metal and would work fine.

Thanks Amelia!

I went ahead and bought a nice one ($23) and will donate it to the space once I’m done.

Seems like a nice capability for the space to have.

Changing the topic slightly- do we have a pneumatic stapler or battery (ryobi) stapler? I did a quick survey of space including the Woodshop and didn’t see any today. I did find the mechanical ones.
