Update on the EPSON 7880

I’ve mentioned to a few people but thought I would make a general announcement. The EPSON 7880 wide format printer is still down. Parts have been ordered but they’re coming from overseas and delivery is marked for sometime in March. I’m hoping that they will arrive much sooner, but we shall see.

If anyone needs to get something printed before then, feel free to contact me and I can print for members out of my studio in Deep Ellum for the same usage fee.

Your awesome @pandabob,
I would even say too generous with your time.
Thanks for this extremely generous offer.

I’ll offer the same service as Pandabob - my printer is in the Lewisville/ FLower Mound area

This is for DMS members and their personal projects.

Oh lordy. Forget that cranky remark I just left about CA being a screen print shop. I’ll even pay you more if it gives you a profit. I’m just delighted to know that you are so close and even more, that you know what you are doing. I figure it will save me a fortune.

The one thing I’m concerned about is calibration. Have you worked through that at DMS? In your shop? I’m not super picky, but I’ve been burned once before. It taught me a lesson.

Let me know if there are profiles I should use. I’ve had a big project in mind for a long time, and look forward to getting started.

I don’t use the DMS printers - never have - I have my own.

What do you usually print on?

My printer is lightyears ahead of the DMS “wide” format printer. A sample or “proof” print will show if the colours are spot on.

I’ve had a few DMS members at my store for framing their printed pieces and dry mounting larger items.

Thanks.

That’s the deal. I’ve been a complete wimp about printing and showing my work over the years, but come March, I’m planning to change that. I’ve been well trained as to a workflow for printing from a guy in Wisconsin named Dan Anderson (who worked with Ansel Adams for years.) What I don’t have is a printer. I was pretty excited about one being at the space.

I’m out of the country for most of February, but will be checking back in March and ready to go. I want to print at least 20 x 20 on canvas, but could go larger.

Do you have a link for prices and such, or do we just work that out? My mom and brother are in Argyle, so your location isn’t out of the question.
