Turning off the Tumblers in Hatcher's

I’m wondering if I might be over working the tumblers in Hatcher’s? I’ve heard stories from friends that they have burned out vibratory tumblers from using them day in and day out in 6 months to a year. At the same time tumbling often takes quite some time with tasks like cleaning brass easily exceeding 4 hours to get the finish you want.

I tend to start a job as I leave the DMS and let the vibratory tumbler run for a full day. But, I’m probably not gaining any effects after 10 or 12 hours. So is the extra time feels like unnecessary wear and tear on the tumbler motor.

I found some timer plugs on amazon, that would auto shut off power after 12 hours,

But, I’m a bit concerned that this solution would be clunky and ugly. which isn’t good for a small committee because that tends to lead directly to things looking messy and Board members challenging the leadership or running of the committee.

So do any among us have a better solution or a way to dress this solution up? I would like to plan for 4 plugs with individual timers. I’m considering building a table that can house them. But, @frank_lima knows, the fire marshal has taken issue with built in electrical solutions in the past. I’ve done a bit of google searching and I can’t find a count down time option with multiple timers either.

Help would be appreciated.

PS we will also be discussing this at the Hatcher’s meeting tonight.

Just found a 24 hour timer option as well.

I will give a timer to hatchers for that. I have several of them for that reason and xmas lights. Honestly it is a pain. That’s why I quit using it.

I use one of these Belkin timers.

It has a switch for .5, 3, or 6 hours.

I was using a Christmas tree timer, but I didn’t want it to run every day if I forgot to come back and turn it off.
