Hey, I’m wondering if there is a tube tester in the electronics lab?
I don’t think so… however, I happen to have an old tube tester that needs refurbishing. I’ve brought it in before (about a year ago), and the consensus is it is repairable.
ahh, ok. I thought there might be one there I don’t know if I have the expertise to repair one. do you know anyone who owns a working one? I have about 10 tubes that need testing from an old amp made in the 60’s that isn’t outputting any sound.
I’m also going to need access to a tube tester in the next few weeks, but I’m not really wild about repairing and calibrating one unless I own it. Is any member known to own a working one that they’d be willing to let me use for a few minutes?
The space now has a Hickock tube tester thanks to @Fred_Miller and his generosity. We are still trying to figure out how to store it without someone doing something stupid to it; however, connect with @artg_dms and I am sure he can arrange your access to it.
That’s very helpful. Thanks.
I have a small (as in compact) tube tester that I can bring by this Sunday if y’all want to use it.
Tom, I spoke with Art. He and I are planning to meet some time in the next few days to test my stuff on a recently donated tube tester. However, it might be good to have yours as a reference, as this other tester is new to both of us. Is your tester a good/bad test type or does it give a range?
Dave,
I’ll have to dig it out and have a look. I cannot say for sure,b and I don’t mind leaving it up there for Makers to use it.
Some time tomorrow after work I’ll look for it.
