Hi All,
I’m new to the DMS (just became a member today!). I have a project in mind that requires the bridgeport, however I’m wondering what tooling we have available. Basically, I would need to do some facing and drilling on some 6061 bar. I saw endmills and drill bits, but I didn’t see anything in the way of facing, however I didn’t poke around much. Any thoughts? Thanks!
We have a dedicated non-ferrous 2.15" shell mill. You’ll be fine. Be sure to tram the Bridgeport first.
Excellent! Are the tramming tools and the shell mill stored in the tool chests? I remember seeing a shell mill in the HAAS, but I’m not certified to work with it. Just what to make sure once I’m ready to start turning parts I don’t spend a bunch of time hunting down tools!
Shell mills and boring head are on the back left corner of the upper level of the work bench. Indicators, and at least one tramming indicator I haven’t tried using yet are in the top of the tall tool case.
Dial calipers, deburring tools, and parallels are all items you will use from the Kennedy tool drawers even though they mostly store Haas tooling. Similarly the toe clamps and T nuts on the front of the Haas are the ones you will use.
