Tool recomendations for k-8 club

I am starting a makers club at Dallas, White Rock Montessori School. it’s a K-8 non profit school.

One of the first things I’m going to need is some wire strippers. What economical brands would you recommend? I want inexpensive , but not cheap. For stripping up to 22 gauge. I personally don’t mind spending $20 on a pair, but then again. I’m not buying 10 of them .

any thoughts on
Wire Stripper, Cutter, Crimper Multi-Function Hand Tool

Are there any members in the Dallas White Rock area interested in the group? or any other parents out there supporting their schools program.

NO.

Those will cut fingers horribly. You need something smaller and simpler if anyone in the K-5th grade uses them… 6-8th grades? Yes, with supervision.

That should work nicely. I’d avoid the automatic wire stripper that Walter posted, as they do not handle abuse well (dropped on floor, glue in them, etc.) and are meant for large wiring jobs.

Brad, I think its a wonderful thing that you are working on. I don’t think that there is a too early age to get started and interested direction in electronics and such. I note that for most of us electronics enthusiasts, the interest starts at a very early age, and usually manifests itself in the form of radios dismembered, and sometimes even functionally reconstructed. To have some direction for these early operators is a blessing, and could even save the lives of some innocent radios…
