To balance or not to balance a driveshaft after replacing ujoints

So… my carrier bearing went out. I need to pull a u joint to get to the yoke bolt. So I will replace the u-joint while I’m in there.

There has been no issue with noise or wobble or anything…I only noticed the carrier bearing was messed up because I was greasing the ujoints and felt the play.

Thoughts?

Thanks,
Tres

I dont think a “jeep guy” on the planet has ever balanced a driveshaft connected, only when manufacturing it. Some people will mark the joints first, and theoretically it can certainly matter.

Yeah…I did the u’s in my ‘97 Crusher erased the marks on accident with carb cleaner. Threw it back in randomly and saw no ill effects. My friend had his done last year and the guy sent it out to be balanced.

Luke, are you still in Dallas or did you move?
