Tips on making a small in ground pond? This feels like I'm making something

Even a tiny leak will attract roots over time (look at plumbing penetrations for an example).

Cutting back roots and not building too close to a tree will help delay/minimize issues from roots. A rough rule of (green) thumb is that a tree’s roots will extend out about as far as the canopy of branches. Shrubs will go farther.

I know of someone who is an Engineering Geologist. (or rather was… he is now retired, but still has his PG and PGP licenses.)

This is just my step mom trying to have a 3 foot pond/puddle I think his skills would be wasted on us, thanks though

Hole filled with water complete? I had very little to do with this other than digging the form and passing on everyone’s helpful info because it’s just easier to get out of my step moms way than try and help. 4 days in no issues that I know of. Thanks again for all the tips and resources.
