[Tips] How to type better

Ever want to up your typing game? I bet there is several of you out there that already think they’re very fast at typing. Well short of movie like button mashing or cyber hands. There are a few things that can help one their performance.

First off, use a mechanical keyboard. they’re expressly designed for long typing sessions and help lower ones error ratios by providing quick feedback. Think of it as shooting with a rifle vs a shotgun. Either one is going to hit the target in the hands of an experienced user but one is going to have a clean shot and the other scatters buckshot everywhere.

Next, practice. About 30 minutes a day. Just social media, blogging, coding and the like is not enough these will usually get one in the range of 45-65wps rather subpar considering the average person can read at 180 wpms and type at 75-90 wpm with the more advance typists working speeds above 120 wpm.

There’s even super secret modes on a keyboard that help. QWERTY was originally invented as a hack to slow down typist on old mechanical typewriters instead of actually allowing fast typing which commonly jammed up the keys. Try the 30 day challenge for DVORAK

Is it worth it, well after 2 years. Yes. One guy was able to stay comfortable at 70+wpm without extra training and bursts up to 90 wpm. with training that would easily be burst to 120 wpm and sustained 90 wpm.

Last two tips, exersciese your hand strength. Using Baoding Balls at lease twice a day for five to ten minutes helps with dextarity and mussel memory while using a Hand Grip Strengthener aides in stretching and flexablity without the risk of poping knuckles.

This 4th of July, free yourself from the oppression of slow typing and common spelling mistakes.
