Thunder laser down after bed raised too high 10/2/18

Laser bed raised too high crashed into laser. Out of order sign in place.

is this the same “laser”?

Yes. Now the laser is inside the bed.

I would be interested in learning how to work on this laser but cant do Saturday maint day due to kids activities. Anyone from @Team_Laser willing to meet me at the space tonight and figure out whats wrong with bed?

Big Thunder’s bed is level and the machine is back in service.

After leveling the bed, the gantry was askew from the head crash. When the machine turned on it wasn’t homing correctly since the gantry was not square and the right side hit physical limits before the left side hit the limit switch. This shut off the Y-axis until the machine was restarted. Squared the gantry and everything is running again.

Also replaced the Y-axis limit switch since it looked bent, and that might have contributed to the problem.

Thanks to Allen (handle?) for the extra set of hands and eyes and @lukeiamyourfather for the tip about the limit switch.
