Thoughts on Accepting Ether Donations for DMS

Here’s a resource for embedding ether donations on a website. Thoughts on integrating with the DMS page?
https://www.etherglade.com/?ref=dallasmakerspace

While the idea and technology itself is worthy of looking into and nothing prevents any member creating a POC lab for anything they want to work with and/or offer to the space I feel we should discuss this first before we dive into making any changes to current production systems.

As for thoughts; I can give a few and lets have it as an open forum so we can hear the use case for using etherglade or even supporting ETC itself (outside of say the dapp and smart contract features of the etherium blockchain)

  1. While DMS already has a bitcoin donation offering how would supporting ethereum donations benefit the space?

    i) Is there a large enough population of users in the membership that would use ETC?

ii) Would ETC/Etherglade be a compliment replacement to the strip/paypal/bitcoin system we already have in place?

  2. With Cryptocurrency being a newly regulated item with the IRS but one not fully supported the upcoming 2018 tax law on crypto is about 39% of personal income tax on every taxable event. How would adopting ETC/ETH benefit the space?

    i) Would there premium on the level of donations?
ii) Would we just use it as a token coin instead of its fiscal value?

  3. What would one do to address these concerns?

  4. Is @Team_finance up for accepting another crypto currency such as ETC/ETH?

My view on this:

We had Bitcoin at one point. Accounting transactions are complicated enough from all the sources we get without the added distraction ether funds. I realize they are viewed as hip, cutting edge, etc. But it was decided we don’t want the added complexity.

Maybe some day when it has matured to where it truly is as easy to use as currency, it can be looked at again. But not at this time.

Ho-hum. Was thinking “Ether” in the traditional sense and going to suggest we do accept and bring to the picnic. Should make for interesting times
