Doing a power up reset automatically loads tool #1. This is a good reason to leave it empty while running the spindle warm up. Of course this guy had to have stuck his head in at least two feet for this to happen, but whatever.
Not getting “leave slot 1 empty” so much as “Don’t stick your head into the machine when it’s running”…

exactly why HAAS removed the door overide in their machines. they tried - but you can’t fix stupid.

IIRC a lot of spindle manufacturers recommend running warmup run with a tool loaded
