Thinking Ahead for September 17th Open House in CA (2016)

Patches in small quantity are expensive. But, trust me you don’t want to go through the process I do for custom shaped patches, it is a pain and expensive.

I was toying with the idea of trying the Babylock native applique patch outlines (at least as an experiment).

I can do a demo with spinning. People seem fascinated with the wheel.

What I’ve done in the past for demos is I wheel-spin, but have a drop-spindle handy for letting people try it. For younglings, I’ve held and done the drafting part (the challenging part) and they make it spin, so it’s successful even for the less dexterous. Then break off a bit of their yarn they spun if they want to take with for a sample, bookmark, or bracelet. That’s gone over well. If there’s a bit of table space, people like touching various types of fibers, yarn samples, etc. Very tactile. More room, could set a few of our other tools out. But at the least I’d just need footprint for wheel and a bit of table to work from.

Love it! I knew you would throw some sparkle up in the mix

Ha. We CAN make it sparkle for spinning fiber :stuck_out_tongue: there’s lots of fun shiny stuff we recently got to blend in. And there’s always beads…beads make everything better. Of course.

And there’s some neat stuff I’m going to experiment with (stainless steel fibers) that can be used to make it conductive too
