Strong as Steel!

I saw that thing yesterday. I’m surprised how long the video is on it.

I actually enjoyed the pitch, first time in ages a commercial has actually made me want the product. Normally, they have the opposite effect.

But looking into it, the stuff actually does work - but you can buy it much cheaper - it’s the same stuff they make casts for broken bones with, and called “Casting Tape”. Available on Amazon and other places. Of course, its normally in white, blue, or green - and you don’t want to be a tape racist!

Maybe we should get a few rolls of this and stock it in the workshop.

It’s basically woven fiberglass mat, in a polyurethane matrix. You dip it in water, which starts the chemical reaction that makes the matrix harden like epoxy. I’ve already ordered some to use in our Radio department - it’s RF translucent, and can be wrapped carefully to make watertight connections - just the thing for repairing colinear radio masts blown out by lightning strikes. But I’m going to add a couple of rolls to my emergency kit as well.

Yea, I picked some of this up last year to fix a handle on a wagon and a dolly/handcart. One caveat, make sure the packages/rolls are sealed air-tight. Any air, especially humid air like we have here in TX, will start the reaction and ruin the product. If part of an emergency kit, rolls should be inspected on a regular basis to make sure they are still good.

I’m wondering how this tape will work as a really cheap composites material for forming to a mold. This might make armor making much easier.

This is an awesome suggestion. Thanks for the idea!

OMG…was binge watching Shark Tank while wking on a project and this product was on it. They made a deal Lori Granier, the blonde QVC chick. Too funny…guess they are doing well.
