Textbook & Wii Donations

Hi there, I have some old programming textbooks and a Wii that I don’t use anymore, and I was wondering if DMS would want them?

I have HeadFirst Java and HeadFirst Programming, Object Oriented Python, Linux Basics for Hackers, and some XNA textbooks (I believe one is XNA 4.0 Game Development by Example: Beginners Guide).

I’d be interested in taking the Wii if the DMS as a whole doesn’t want it.

If noone wants the textbooks , we can put them in science . Im learning python currently

I was planning on donating them to the DMS so more people could use them. Should I just drop off the books the next time I am there?

Sure! Sounds good to me!

We can use the wii for the front lobby arcade

Sounds good. I think I might have some spare PS2 controls, but the plastics/rubber have been degrading over time (Texas heat lol) so those would need to be replaced. I’ll check my attic and see if there is more stuff DMS might like that we can use to make the arcade feel more complete.

How would I go about donating the supplies? I’m not sure which committee I would need approval of for the textbooks and the Wii.

You can drop it off during tours tomorrow or leave it in the common room next time you’re at DMS and send me a PM so I know to get it.

Hi Julie,

I will be here on Sunday for the open forge. Will you be there on that date?

I’ll be around on Sunday - mostly Sunday afternoon. I can try to get there early enough to meet you but can’t guarantee I’ll be there in time.

Open Forge ends at 1:30 and I will probably stick around for a bit or go grab lunch after, so I should be in.

I tested the Wii and it powers on, but I don’t have an RCA connection on my TV, so I would need to check the one on the lounge.

Hi, just an update.

I talked to Julie and I set up the Wii in the former lobby/lounge. It fully works and Wii sports resort is there. I only had one controller, but I will see if I have more on my next trip to the attic. I also left a PS2 controller and some wireless PS2 controllers, but I didn’t have the receiver (they are 10 dollars each on eBay I think)
