Tesla Coil Build

Has anyone here ever built a Tesla Coil? I plan on building one after Christmas and afterwards will donate it to my HighSchool.

Seen some cool ones, never build one myself. But should u make one from scratch and leave at space, I say make it with frequent and large lightning patterns, if possible. I have always felt that electronics at dms would benefit from a 24 hour lightning display at the entry to the lab.

While lightning partially obstructing the entryway may not make electronics geeks any cooler, it will make their doorway look cooler, which could be more noticeable, but depends how big of lightning u make…

Tesla coils, when not respected, can kill the user and are a huge RF noise sources. No, we don’t need one running 24/7.

Some EEs and top Navy Seals, come equipped with impervious flesh resistance to lightning of any variety, large or small. Ever heard of skin effect? Well, see! Its something totally unrelated.

Can we at least position one carefully in the board room as long as we are mindful of safety to members? Initial reports indicate that android app-based directional remote control with video support nowadays are simply vital features for tesla coils.

So Josh, I’ve stumbled across what may have been tesla coils when I encountered a govt contract creating virtual instrumentation for a military equipment testing lab for EMI, static, EMP, etc. That particular lab, may or may not have had (depending on my security clearance) the coolest equipment and data acquisition systems and of course video data acquired I had ever seen assembled. Why does it never get old to zap the crap outta stuff and take slomo hires sequences, then bill sam for the hard ‘work?’

I am curious what is the plan to build the coil that you are thinking about? Like size, EMF, distances, charge capacity?

I think its a way cool project idea even though 24 hour unmonitored zapping of the pretty bolts thru slower walking electronics enthusiasts may not have been so well received…lol…

Always wanted to make RFID activated high voltage demos for the lobby.

I always thought a black box with two pipes coming out of the top and a sign saying ‘Don’t touch’ would be a good screening device for prospective members…

I’m kinda partial to the useless box. Damn thing is funny as hell.
