Terminal emulator: SyncTERM

While not as cool as Telemate, this open-source terminal program is fantastic.

As of late I’ve been using kermit95/ckermit with a lot of success.

I prefer the linux program screen

https://www.gnu.org/software/screen/manual/screen.html

Full vt100 and mulitiple sessions. As well as the ability to attach and detach from sessions

BTW, love the quote in the article @zmetzing describing the internet in the mid 90’s

for the mid-'90s Internet, which was itself still a relatively young and wild thing (especially the nascent World Wide Web, which was at the time only a few years old).

The Internet is so much more then the world wide web, and had been around 2-3 decades before the mid nineties.

Yep, fido, usenet, uu and darpanet where the thing. One would get their news and messages from usenet and fidonet. And if one got connected to a their local college or lucky enough that their ISP offered a unix shell account (long live SDF Lonestar) then they had access to both DARPA, ftp, pop mail, Gopher and uucp.

And that was all before ISP’s became nothing more than a packet repeater.
