Teletype repair?

currently working on restoring functionality to a model 33 asr teletype. It is mostly working however the line feed mechanism is not working properly I think mainly due to the rubber on the platen and the feed roller being too dried out. does any one here know a good way to either restore or replace the rubber on the platen and feed roller

I heard about the shrink wrap trick but I don’t think the print head/carriage would fit properly against it with the increased diameter.

any advice would be appreciated, thanks!

Dunno if he’s still around. Was mostly 28 and 35 parts, and older.

If the platen is turning and the rubber isn’t cracked I’d look at the pressure/feed rollers. Iy you can’t dig up replacements, you can try MG Chemicals 408C Rubber Renue. I’d also post to some of the vintage typwrite fora and see what they have to say. I’m amazed at what folks are doing to recondition old typewriters and teletype machines including new platen rubber and the like.
