Is there Away to turn on or receive notifications when new threads are posted? Same thing with the calendar? I can’t seem to find option??
Unfortunately To my knowledge there is no way to set notifications for our calendar system. I believe that various people have worked on potential solutions, but nothing is currently in place (somebody correct me if something new has happened).
With talk all new posts will go in a category called New. They stay there for a period of time and, if unchecked, disappear from that category after (I think) a couple of days. If you read a post from the New category it will no longer be in that category when you go back to it.
I don’t currently have any, but when you do the category will be located as I’ve indicated below.
If you look in each thread there’s usually a dropdown box in the thread that you can set your watch setting for that specific thread.

Similarly, you can set watch settings for a certain category (for example, for a committee) by going to that committee’s page and changing the watch settings.

I think BC covered it but for future reference (for anyone reading), Discourse, the underlying software for our forums, has a “meta” site where discussions about Discourse product and development and whatever else happens. e.g. Here’s what came up for a search n on this topic:
