[taken] DB9 serial cables and 9 conductor wire

I have ~50 extra commercial DB9 cables. 6ft and 10ft lengths.
They are dusty w/ playa, but in good shape.

Also available is a roll (~75ft ?) of raw multi-conductor wire.

Free to a good home…

We could use them at the vintage computer museum.

Sounds good -
I can drop them off any evening Mon-Thurs… do you have a preference?
Thanks,
TJ

Tues and Thurs at 6pm is best

Sunday evening I filled up the Donation Shelf with computer cables, all types and sizes, old and new. Check them out.

I know this is an old post, but tell me about the 9 conductor wire. I was looking for something to wire the LCD out on my 3d printer further than the included cables, something compact. I may just use CAT5 cable.

CAT5 is typically thinner than 22 AWG while handles about 4A at 12vdc depending on the quality of the cable it could be a copper clad aluminum core or full copper core, along with other factors. While DB9 is 24 AWG copper core and handles around 27A with up to 15vdc.

In general it really depends on the application but overall cat5/6/7 is by design better at data communications and PoE then as a replacement for normal wiring or “speaker” wire. So with that in mine, as the limitations and application are not so much the leds but the driver powering your leds, I’ll ask what are the specs for your LED driver and how much power is your leds requiring?

That’s really good to know- thanks. I never know if I am selecting the right gauge wire in my projects. I sort of just use what is on hand.
