Take Out VW Radio and replace fuse

Hi All,

I need some assistance. I have a 2006 VW Jetta and the radio does not work. I thought it was the fuse. When I checked it, it was fine. Then I found out the VW has 2 radio fuses. One in the fuse box and one on the radio itself. There’s some tool needed to pull the plastic hinge off the radio cover. I’m hoping the space has the tool, or some member has it. In any event, as I’ve never done this before, I was wondering if there is a member who is experienced it doing it who can assist me. I think we’re looking at 45m tops. I can do it on your availability. Please let me know if anyone can assist.

Thanks,
James

Combining these 2 videos appears to give a pretty clear picture of what you’re after:
radio removal

on-radio fuse location

I’m not sure which “plastic hinge” you’re wanting to pull, but I figure the plastic spudger he’s using to remove all the trim in the first video is what you’re after?

Be careful removing the plastic vents above the radio. I did my friends radio (replaced it with a more modern one capable of bluetooth) and we broke a few clips and it raddled loudly. We ended up shimming it and that keeps it stable, but if you can be tender to start you’ll save yourself the trouble.

Yes that is correct. I have seen those videos. I’ve never removed a radio before, so having someone experienced on hand would help if I run into a problem.
