Table Saw Training

I’m new to the Space and while I have used a table saw I would love a quick refresher for one of my projects. I also can’t make any of the Woodshop 101 classes with my weird work schedule. I was wondering if anyone would be around tomorrow (Wed the 14th) to help me pick the right blade and get started. I haven’t been able to pick up my key but I have all the emails and proof of payment, would that allow me to work alongside another maker?

Thanks!
Natalie

I won’t be able to be at the space tomorrow. PM me a few other times that will work for you and I will try my best to accommodate it.

Once we figure out another time, I will post it here and allow others to join in.

For others interested the next Woodshop 101 is the 19th at 7PM.

I’d like to get training on the table saw sometime in the next couple of weeks. I have a simple project and have never used a table saw before.

I will be up there from noon to about 7 pm. I can show you the basic safety. Might want to watch this video just as a quick intro. http://youtu.be/slzaPWgqnkM

(Looks like a good place to post) I too haven’t used a table saw in years and was going to cut some very simple pieces to create rubber molds. Any short refresher or even just getting me set up and cut one would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Karl

I will be having a wood shop intro class Tomorrow at 7PM and Saturday morning at 11AM (they are not on the calendar yet) . It will cover the basic safety and operation of the Joiner, planer, Table Saw and band saw.

Hope to see you there.

Sounds great Alex - Thanks!

@AlexRhodes is this going to be for the old table saw, or the new Saw Stop?

The old table saw.

The new saw stop still has an issue. I don’t want to get into specifics, but some things are not lining up correctly. We have contacted their support and hope to have it resolved soon. Much thanks to @mblatz for a lot of the grunt work on this issue.

Can you guys check the delta for squareness. My table saw skills may be rusty, but I was trying to cut panels on it, used the panel jig and they did not come out square. Didn’t want to mess with the saw, so I thought I’d mention it here.

I might be able to check it tonight, if not tonight then Wednesday.

I did make a small cut on it yesterday though and it came out square. Granted it was only a 12" so it didn’t have a long run to show any big changes.

So what I did was, I cut two panels at once, stacked (attempting to square the ends), 16 inches long x 16 inches tall. Cut each end using the jig. then when I flipped one panel over to check end to end squareness, they were not even. Flip it back to original stacking, they were perfect end to end.

It sounds like the jig (saw sled), not the saw itself, is the problem. Since we have more than one sled, try a cut on another sled and see if you get a better result. Since the sleds are just wood with wood runners, it may be an adjustment is needed. Either the runner (or runners) need adjustment/tightening or the back fence on the sled needs an adjustment. Alternatively, you can try the all-metal Incra miter gauge we have.

It happens with the fence as well.

Next time i come in i’ll just do some measuring to see if it’s the fence or the saw, or the person-operating-the-saw
