Table Saw Class

Hello!

Is there any interest for a class going over the table saw? I took the woodshop safety course but I would like to learn more about using the table saw and the different sleds for it.

Thanks

I think there should be a separate table saw class too as they intimidate the hell out of me, more so after watching a kickback video (thanks, YouTube). I had no idea cross-cuts were a bad idea. I’ve seen some dangerous stuff and I’m hardly in the shop—like the person who let his trimmed piece of waste wood dance around between the running saw and the fence. As awesome as they are, I think it’s difficult for the instructions to understand how ignorant some of us are.

If you want, I can meet you sometime this wee , and we can go over what you want to do, and I will give you some tips

Project based classes work better with all the tools in the wood shop. The cutting board classes are a great place to start. On the table saw you learn how to deal with and resolve the most common things to cause kick back.

  1. Like a board closing around the riving knife…
  2. how to properly use the push stick.
  3. Using the correct blade, how to change the blade
  4. How to use the small parts sled
  5. How to rip and cross cut…

And that just the table saw…we also cover the joiner and planer…
Absolute beginners need to start with this class
