A while ago, i saw some people asking for a basic woodshop project class (frames, shadow boxes, etc.). Does anyone here have any suggestions for classes that/projects that they want?
I think it would be very useful to have a joinery class or series. I know @worldcloud had the cabinet making series but I missed it and I would like to have a class that goes over mortise and tenons, half-laps, miter joints, etc…
A class on building a miter box would also be helpful.
There are a lot of classes that WoodCraft in Plano teach that are about $90 a class that I know members at DMS have the skills to teach and I know I am interested. I do plan to pay for some of those classes at WoodCraft, and after mastering techniques would be happy to teach something similar.
I know someone is teach a picture frame class tomorrow, I am sure that is one that could be taught every other month and fill up with interest.
I am new to all of the equipment and I’m looking forward to the Make Picture Frame class Friday night!. I learn faster hands on, so small project classes ROCK! A basic furniture class would be good, maybe end tables, coffee table?
Thank you,
Anita Willis
A box. Could be with hinged lid, or even just inset rocker lid or sliding type. It would incorporate several operations (corners, bottom, etc,) that would translate to some things I’m wanting to build and would have general interest to others
I have another couple constructions I want to learn but having trouble articulating and translating them to a beginner project incorporating (mine are jewelry displays which is too specific for a class, but base construction…i’ll see if I can think of a more general analog idea)
