Stupid RD Works question - transparent backgrounds

I’m confident there’s a very obvious and simple answer to this, but I couldn’t figure it out, so…

Today I tried, using multiple file types and source software, to create a bitmap file that had a transparent background, so that when I rastered the image, only the image portion of the file would be etched, without a white (or darkened) box behind it. I used Photoshop to create an image that had a fully transparent background, then exported that image with transparent background to a .png file. But when I imported it into RD Works, the background was fully visible, and the software sent not only the image, but also the background box to the laser to be rastered.

Please help.

Bitmaps can’t have transparent backgrounds I thought…

There should be a setting to decrease the power so the white doesn’t get etched

I think he said he said he exported it as .png with a transparent background.

RDWorks probably doesn’t support transparent backgrounds, but doesn’t matter.

Ungroup the image. Delete the border box or give it a different color to vector or ignore. The white should not raster. If it is, select the object, Main Menu>Bitmap Handle. Play with those settings.

Other images can be placed on top of the background and be lasered normally.

I will try that.

Thanks!
