I had an extensive conversation with someone about this study a couple weeks ago… hilarious!!! there was an incident sometime before this where a citizen stopped, apprehended, and called the police on a mother who ran inside to pick up her food with her baby in the car for like 20 secs while never leaving sight of the car. i say that citizen should have been arrested for false detention and possibly endangerment of the child depending upon the child’s circumstances. such culprits should be punished by being forced to listen to the npr podcast (worse than waterboarding) of this study over and over until they recognize the need for chilling out and reflecting for a second before attempting to fully contextualize and intervene in any situation involving a mother and her child… that or until their head explodes from cognitive dissonance
