Is there anything we need to do when using the parts from the spare parts bin? I ask because I found two small switches I can use in a Arduino project. One is a momentary and the other is a SPST, just in case someone needs notification.
It is my understanding that those parts were donated for all to use for personal projects. It would be less than excellent to use the parts in a for-pay production run; you should have a Digikey or Mouser order for that and pay for it yourself.
However, for one-offs or fun, have at it (unless someone corrects me).
I am genuinely curious: I thought - regardless of commercial or personal use - if you use it, replace it with money or in kind.
If you pay for it, I’m not sure why it would matter what the use is… but I now see that it could be an issue if you’re using an appreciable number of something and making somebody else deal with shipping/handling for you.
Use whatever you need for your projects. We only ask you to replace something if you use stuff for a commercial product or you use a large quantity of something. For example we have a bins of hundreds of yellow LEDs. If you decide to make a 10x10x10 LEd matrix cube please consider either tossing in a few dollars or replacing them.
