[SOLD] - Selling car for my kid, 1994 Honda Accord LX

Selling my son’s car. Not gonna lie, it’s a “project” at best. Needs more work than he wants to put into it.

Man that has some light mileage on it. My wife’s has 259,000. Good luck with the sell, I don’t imagine it will last long.

I figure someone with access to parts, and ability to do the work, could get it back in shape. Paying for labor made it not cost-effective for my kid (and he’s also going to be doing a study-abroad and won’t need it for several months).

jswillson - I just read your post about your Honda for sale.

If the buyer and you cannot meet at your local DMV to transfer ownership - Make sure you REMOVE your license plates BEFORE the buyer leaves with your car. This may sound trivial until you receive fees/fines from toll roads, parking tickets etc, which could turn into a warrant for YOUR arrest even though you don’t “own” the car anymore.

The form the state of Texas suggests you fill out when selling a car/vehicle is worthless - ask me how I know if you like.

Thanks for the advice!

Good advice, I fill out the form and photo the odometer, and file with the DMV.

Agreed. Buyer can get temporary “transit” paper tag if they worry about driving it w/o tags.

@TLAR, You don’t have to go to the DMV with them. You just have to submit a Title Transfer Notification form to the DMV. I just did this yesterday when I sold my Mustang on the Craig’s lists.

Now don’t leave the toll tag in the car like I did.

That’s a good idea but I would still remove the license plates - the seller of my worthless nephew’s car sent in that same form to DMV in Austin, and did it nothing for him.

With the seller’s license plates on the car that still had a valid registration my asshat nephew wasn’t motivated to register it lead to:
several unpaid parking tickets in Austin
multiple tolls
other offences
warrant for arrest for the previous owner (see REMOVE license plates above)
previous owner hired an attorney to sort out the mess

The only good thing was he didn’t use the car in an armed robbery or worse
