From time to time, people will (good-naturedly) comment about the fact that I make small stuff. Very small stuff. Most of my creations are 1:12 scale, which honestly isn’t very small. A chair would be about 3" tall. A dinner plate would be about 3/4" diameter.
However, as part of a more extensive collection, I made a 1:144 scale “room box” and I thought I’d share it. In that scale, a chair would be about 1/4" tall and a dinner plate would be 1/16" diameter. Obviously at this scale you can’t incorporate many details.
If you had a 1:12 scale miniature, and that imaginary occupant had a 1:12 scale miniature inside of it, that would be 1:144 scale - also called micro-scale. I made a micro-scale garage workshop, where the imaginary occupant is constructing their own 1:12 scale miniature … i.e., a 1:1728 scale dollhouse. I’ve coined the phrase nano-scale for that 1:1728 scale dollhouse.
Now … this stuff is small.
And, before you ask … this isn’t the giant penny. It’s a “regular” one.
My husband says I am not allowed to ever work in this scale again. This is because of the new words he learned from me and the amount of time I spent digging through the carpet with a magnifier looking for parts that sprang off the work table.
