Sharpening a kitchen knife

Does anyone know how to sharpen a kitchen knife who could A) sharpen one for me B) teach me how to do it myself? I got a beautiful handmade chefs knife as a gift but I have no idea how to properly sharpen it now that it’s dulled. My attempts at learning via YouTube have not worked very well so far and I just can’t get back the edge it originally had.

I’ve taught a sharpening class a few times at DMS. Be happy to teach you first hand. Could you be in the galley Wednesday evening at 6:45 PM? I’ll bring my sharpener - you bring the knife.

I’m usually up at DMS every wednesday evening for the philosophy meetup. I’ll be there again ahead of the meeting next week so look for the really tall guy in the galley around 6:45pm - My wife and I occasionally come up on weekends for projects - I’ll try to remember to let you know if we’re heading that way.
