I’m a new user to the Shapeoko XXL. I took the class last week. I came in today to try to run a file. I had an issue with initializing. I received a GRBL Alarm 9 error. Was wondering if anyone could help me out. I can’t get the spindle to move back up. Thanks.
I usually touch on this in class. If you receive any kind of error during initializing please power cycle the controller using the black inline switch or power strip itself. Windows will see this as an unplug/plug USB event and that generally clears up any issues.
If that doesn’t work reboot the Windows surface tablet.
If still having an issue after that we may have a problem with the machine.
Jay, thanks I tried those methods and it did not work. The spindle just retracts down and returns an error of HM009: The machine could not find the homing switches. It says it could be caused by the axis being jammed or a malfunctioning homing switch. Thanks.
Okay. One last thing, did you double-check that your config is for the proper machine settings?
This was my first time configuration, but I did attempt to create a new configuration for the shapeoko 3 xxl. Thanks.
I am out of town. It I will try to come up Tuesday night to see what is going on .
Thanks, Ken. If you let me know whenever you head over I’ll try to meet you.
I can’t make it over to the shop tonight . I will try tomorrow .
Thanks for letting me know, Kevin. I’ll try to make whatever time works for you tomorrow. Only time I can’t do is 2:30-3. I really appreciate the help.
Joseph
I will endeavor to check the machine sometime today when I am in.
The machine is operating normally, once I did a setup/download to fix what was most likely a previous user downloading an incorrect configuration.
Please re-do your configuration by choosing ‘Setup New Machine’ on the Carbide Motion startup screen and double check the inputs you provide to make sure they are the correct ones.
Thanks, Jay. I’ll document what I’m doing to see where I’m messing up.
